Registrations are now being accepted for the Newport Public Library's 2009 Summer Reading Program, "Be Creative @ Your Library." Read 6 books or more, record your reading in a reading log or online, and complete at least 1 activity under at least 2 areas of the carnival map to complete the program. Children who complete receive a personalized certificate, a free book and a toy prize. Pre-school children to children entering 6th grade in the fall are invited to participate. In May boats of all shapes and sizes reappear in our beautiful harbor. Speedboats, sailboats, classic wooden boats, and even kayaks and canoes dot the watery landscape. What is your favorite kind of boat and why?

National Library Week

April 12th-18th is National Library Week - a time to celebrate all libraries have to offer. The Children's Department of the Newport Public Library offers free Internet access computers,
