Summer Puppet Camp
New this year, the Children's Department of the Newport Public Library will offer a week long Summer Puppet Camp for children ages 8 -12 years the week of August 2nd- August 6th. Children will learn dramatics, storytelling and will create crafts. The children will present a public performance of their own puppet show on Friday, August 6th. All materials will be provided for this free camp. Participants should have some performance related background. To register, call the Children's Department at 847-8720.

The Children's Department's 2010 Summer Reading Program is called "Make a Splash @ Your Library!" It is a water-themed program with sea serpents, mermaids and pirates. Join the fun. Registrations are being accepted now. To register, visit the Children's Desk at the Newport Public Library at 300 Spring St, sign up at our web page at http://www.newportlibraryri.org/, or call 847-8720 x 204. Read 6 books over the summer and log them in a paper reading log or online. Complete the program and receive a certificate, a toy prize and a free book. Summer Reading also includes lots of fun events, like crafts, storytelling, music and more. See you at the library this summer!
